Ban-for-Sale Process Architecture & Compliance Framework
- •Led the end-to-end design of Tata 1MG's ban-for-sale compliance framework, covering identification, implementation, and monitoring of banned drugs and medicines.
- •The framework operates at three levels: drug-level bans, product-level bans, and rule-based bans.
- •Collaborated with the catalog, legal, warehouse, compliance, and fulfillment centre teams to operationalise the ban process.
- •Supported EY compliance audits with ban screening, validation, and documentation.
The Challenge
- Ban notifications from CDSCO arrive in varied formats and require rapid interpretation and implementation.
- Rule-based bans cannot be implemented at individual product level at scale — requiring a rules engine approach.
- Establishing communication and implementation protocols across hundreds of fulfillment centres and retail stores nationally.
The Approach
- Designed the three-tier ban architecture: drug-level, product-level, and rules-based.
- Built a ban repository mapping 518+ CDSCO notifications to Tata 1MG's internal database.
- Automated the OTC SKU ban scoring and notification mapping process in collaboration with the Business Intelligence team.
- Established ban SOPs, communication templates, and a review pipeline.
- Worked with the EY audit team on ban screening and validation for 35 salts, all confirmed compliant.
Results
Ban compliance accuracy improved from 81% to 99%.
