EMR Integration with Tata Hospitals
- •Led the integration of Tata 1MG's drug content library and (Drug Drug Interactions) DDI tool into Tata hospital's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- •Doctors within the Tata hospital network received real-time interaction alerts and clinical referenced content at the point of prescribing, directly within their EMR workflow.
- •The integration was specifically scoped for anti-cancer drugs, which a high-risk, high-complexity category where information & interaction safety is critical.
The Challenge
- EMR systems have strict data format and security requirements, where integration required significant schema alignment between Tata 1MG's database structure and the hospital's system.
- Anti-cancer drugs have highly specific interaction profiles that required a dedicated oncology content & interaction dataset.
- Gaining clinical trust from oncologists required demonstrating the accuracy and provenance of the clinical content & interaction data.
The Approach
- Delivered the clinical content & oncology-specific interaction dataset as the primary data layer for the EMR integration.
- Coordinated with hospital IT and clinical teams on API schema, real-time data delivery, and alert display logic.
- Established ongoing content refresh and data maintenance protocols.
Results
Real-time drug interaction alerts live within Tata hospital EMR workflows for oncology prescribing.
Integration covering anti-cancer drug interactions from the ~31,000 entry oncology-specific database.
Positive reception from clinical teams — supporting prescriber confidence and reducing interaction-related risk at the point of care.
